Latest Pokemon Nest from Data Mining (ft. Dratini Nest)

Data Mining Pokemon Nest (Part 3)

First of all, thank you for your support for the previous posts. If you’ve missed the post about ultra-rare Pokemon, it’s here. If you’ve missed the one on the starter Pokemon, it’s here . This post will cover the remaining Pokemon nests in Singapore, featuring Dratini’s nest for players to farm up their Dragonite.

With this post, most of the Pokemon nest will have been revealed with the exception of Gastly, Hitmonlee, Hitmonchan & Likitung. The reason for leaving that 4 Pokemon out is that their appearance rates belong to the Ultra-rare group. To view the Pokemon nest plotted on Google map, scroll to the bottom of the entire post.

A note on the findings

These locations marked are the best locations to be camping for the said Pokemon. It does not mean that the Pokemon does not spawn anywhere else or that there will definitely be that said Pokemon there all the time. They are just statistically more likely (actually a lot more) to be there. Also, the results are immune to

A note on confirmation bias, bandwagon effect and social amplification

We often hear people talk about Hougang ave 10 being the best spawn spot for Pokemon. But the reason you hear so much about that place is because of the result of groupthink and social amplification. With more people there than anywhere else, a Gyrados appearance there can even make it onto the news! So should you trust your friends’ source on where are the Pokemon nests?

These results are immune to confirmation biasness as they are not crowdsourced or hear-says. In fact, you will see NOTHING ABOUT HOUGANG AVE 10!

I’ve been receiving a lot of emails asking where do I get the data for the spawn location (especially when a lot of radar apps are going down now). Instead of revealing the method, I’ll be releasing the raw data set for everyone to use. The data set is in the form of MongoDB data dump and has 3.8 million entries. It will be made available as soon as possible.

For those who would like to take this opportunity and learn something new, I’m glad to announce that there will be an upcoming introductory class. The class will be an hour (or two) class and is designed for absolute beginner in computer science or data science field. Suitable for both adults and children, the course will cover the following:

  • Reverse engineering networked applications (which will allow you access to the spawn locations directly)
  • Data mining with Rapid Miner

If you want to be the first to know when the class is available for sign-ups, fill in this form!

Hey You!
